I have had the honor and privilege of being a part of the birth of Mower Refreshed in 2010 and have seen it grow from a collaboration of few organizations (MCHS – Austin and Mayo Center for Innovation, Mower County Public Health, and Mower County United Way) to a movement that includes representatives from the entire county, over 180 organizations with over 200 volunteers.
MCHS Austin and Albert Lea merged January 1, 2013 and this new entity remains committed to community health and wellness. Despite my departure I want to assure you that Mayo remains 100% committed to Mower Refreshed. Lisa Kocer of Mower County Health & Human Services will continue as co-chair of the steering committee and the leadership from our coordinator, Sandy Anderson as well as the goal group teams will remain strong.
I see a very bright future for Mower Refreshed and I suspect the cutting edge work we are doing in Mower County will be replicated in other counties as they learn of the value when these efforts are grass roots driven. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the innovative work of Mower Refreshed!
