Serving as the Y director, I’ve enjoyed bringing our resources, people, expertise, facilities, and equipment, to projects and programs coordinated, but mostly, I’ve enjoyed the collaborative spirit that pervades this community. So many people truly want to make Mower County a better place for themselves and for their neighbors. It goes beyond just wishing for improvements, they’re willing to think creatively and to work for those improvements. Even with creativity and elbow grease, many of the efforts wouldn’t be possible without money. Mower County is also a very generous community. Area residents, businesses, Mayo Clinic Health System, Hormel Foods, and of course the Hormel Foundation make many projects
In February, I will leave Austin, moving to be closer to family in Kansas City. While I’ve lived many places in my adult life, it is Mower County and Minnesota I will miss the most. The spirit of community here is unmatched, and people’s commitment to the county’s quality of life is truly impressive. Mower Refreshed is just one example of that commitment. As I depart, I am grateful for my experiences here, for the people I’ve worked with, and for the support of so many. Thank you for making Mower County one of the best places to live!
