• What sparked your interest in healthy living?
Eating healthy foods and being physically active have always been my goals. Admittedly, there have been periods of time when I have done better than other times.
• Why is being active important to you?
Being active has immediate and long-term health benefits and improves one’s quality of life overall. Regular activity gives me more energy. And, along the way, more fun! I enjoy bicycling on our local and state trails and hiking along the North Shore trails.
• How do you define “living well?”
There are at least three important aspects of living well: healthy mind, body, and spirit. Combined, these healthy aspects provide the energy for a life that is meaningful and fulfilling.
• What advice would you give to people who are looking for ways to incorporate wellness
into their lives?
Start out with attainable goals. It is often easier, and more fun, with a partner or group with similar healthy living goals. Do not be discouraged if you fall short of your goals. Rather, accept and reset to stay on a long-term path for a healthy life.
• Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Why or why not?
I prefer to call my plans for the New Year “Intentions.” I like the idea of having a little more flexibility so as to not create stress or disappointment in my efforts towards healthy living.
